FAIRFIELD, AL (March 20, 2013) — Junior first baseman Brianna Barrentine for the Lady Bears softball team was selected SIAC Women’ Softball Player of the Week for week sixth, respectively. After her impressive performance this past weekend at the 2013 SIAC Softball Crossover Tournament in Jasper, AL. It is the first honor of the season for Barrentine and first honor for the Miles women’s softball team.
Barrentine, a native of Oakman, AL (Oakman High School), had an outstanding week as she led the defending SIAC Softball Champions, Miles, to six Eastern Division conference wins over Albany State, Clark Atlanta, Claflin, Fort Valley State, Benedict, and Paine at the 2013 SIAC Softball Crossover Tournament. The first baseman was also named MVP for the Western Division of the crossover tournament after driving in six RBI’s, off six hits, with two home runs, and eight runs scored.
