Senior forward #Sammeika Thomas# (6’1) for the Lady Bears basketball team have been named Co-SIAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, respectively, after her impressive performance during week #8. It is the third honor of the season for Thomas and the third for the Miles women’s basketball team.
Thomas, a native of Birmingham, AL., averaged 12 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest, while helping lead the Lady Bears to a 2-0 record for the week, including wins over conference foe Clark Atlanta and Tuskegee. She averaged 3.5 assists, three steals and two blocks during the week. Through Sunday, Thomas is the only women’s player in the SIAC averaging a double-double with 13.5 points and a conference leading 10.1 rebounds per game.
