The Miles College Golden Bears (4-2, 3-1 SIAC) fell to the Tigers of Benedict College (5-0, 4-0 SIAC) at Sloan-Alumni Stadium. In a tale of two halves, Benedict would take a commanding 21-3 first half lead but the Golden Bears, known for being a great second half team, continued with this trend, scoring 21 points of their own.

In a game that was marred by turnovers the Golden Bears would jump on the scoreboard first when
Cameron Williams recovered a Benedict fumble and returned it 47-yards that set up a field goal to open up the scoring.  After costly turnovers by the Golden Bears, Benedict would go on to score 21 unanswered points to take a 21-3 halftime lead.
The second half was a reversal of fortune.  After an interception by
Brian Thomas, the Golden Bears would score two play later on a 42-yard touchdown pass from
Kamren Ivory to
Travaunta Abner to cut the lead to 21-9 after the PAT failed. With the Tigers driving in for what could have been the touchdown that put the game out of reach, a red zone interception by Jeremaih Hudson-Davis to end the 3rd quarter would give the Golden Bears the momentum going into the fourth.

The Golden Bears would complete an 86-yard drive on a 13-yard completion from Ivory to
Jamari Riley for the touchdown, cutting the Benedict lead to 21-16 to open up the fourth quarter.  After forcing the Tigers to turn the ball over on downs, the Golden Bears would score on a 22-yard rushing touchdown to cap off a 56-yards drive to give the Golden Bears the lead.  Ivory would complete a pass to Abner for the 2-point conversion, extending the lead to 24-21.

Benedict would answer with a touchdown of their own to retake the lead on their next possession but a block PAT by
Curtis Weatherspoon would keep the Golden Bears within a field goal at 27-24. However, the Golden Bears was unable to score on their final two possessions, turning the ball over on downs on both drives and the Tigers of Benedict would walk away with the 27-24 victory.

The Golden Bears will be back in action Saturday when they travels to Atlanta, GA to face the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse.  The game is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. cst and will be live streamed on the Black College Sports Network (BCSN).
