A big six-run fourth inning fueled Alabama-Huntsville to a 9-3 win over Miles Wednesday afternoon at historic Rickwood Field.
The Golden Bears (12-15) have now lost three straight games and were swept in the three-game series this season against UAH (18-11).
Matthew White (1-1) gave up two runs and three hits with two strikeouts in his three innings of work but took the loss. The game took a turn for the worse in the fourth, when the Chargers sent 10 hitters to the plate against reliever
Peyton Godfrey and got eight hits and six runs to break the game open. Two of the batters were thrown out on the basepaths to mitigate the damage.
Miles did not get its first hit until the fourth inning when
Dalton Roberts led off with a triple. He would score on a ground out by
Ryne Benson (who had two hits) to get the team in the scoring column, but the offense struggled all day, finishing with just five hits. Miles would get two runs in the ninth on a single by
Jackson Hughes that plated
Alex Bentley and Roberts.
Miles is back in action on Saturday and Sunday as it hosts a four-game conference series against Kentucky State. Both doubleheaders are scheduled to begin at noon.
