AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Miles saw an early lead fall apart in a third quarter drought that allowed Paine to take control in a 67-60 loss Monday night at the HEAL Complex.

Sakina Wynn nearly had a triple-double (14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists) but despite a huge advantage on the boards (52-35), the Lady Bears (5-2, 1-1 SIAC West) could not overcome 30 turnovers that lead to 24 points by the Lady Lions (3-3, 2-0 SIAC East). 

Miles led by seven points midway through the first quarter but struggled shooting the ball throughout the contest, The Lady Bears never shot over 30 percent in any quarter made just 27 percent of its field goal attempts for the contest. The cold shooting helped Paine take a 26-25 lead at halftime.

The Lady Lions were able to create some space from the Lady Bears after the break. Miles missed all six shots and turned the ball over three times during a near four-minute span midway through the period. This allowed Paine to go on a 12-0 run that pushed its advantage to 40-27 with 4:40 left in the quarter. The Miles deficit would get as big as 13 points and the Lady Bears spent most of the rest of the game trailing by double digits.

Keondra Archie had 20 points and 8 rebounds while Jasmine Williams added 13 points for Paine. Mya Millner had 11 points,7 rebounds and 3 steals off the bench, Kahyanne Bolton added 9 points and Katrice Jackson had 6 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks for Miles, which plays next on Saturday at Delta State. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
