Taylor Terry scored had 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots but it was not enough as Miles dropped a 53-42 decision to Tuskegee Thursday night at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
While the Lady Bears (7-14, 4-9 SIAC West) held their seventh opponent under 55 points this season, the fell to 2-5 in those games as they were unable to convert on the offensive end against the Golden Tigerettes (5-7, 4-10). Miles shot just 30 percent from the field - and 23 percent in the first half - while missing all 13 of their 3-point attempts. While one of the better free throw shooting teams in the SIAC, thy even struggled from the charity stripe, going 12-for-23 overall and a woeful 4-for-10 in the fourth quarter.
Miles led early but a 9-0 run between the first and second quarters gave Tuskegee the lead for good. The Golden Tigerettes led 21-15 at halftime but the Lady Bears cut the deficit to one point midway through the third quarter after Terry knocked down the first of her two free throws. But she would miss the second and Alexus Shirrells would knock down 3-pointers on consecutive possessions to push the lead back to five points. Miles would get to within two late in the quarter, but Taylor Miller would hit a 3-ball at the horn and Tuskegee would take a 37-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

Jasmine Hollis bucket early in the fourth had Miles within three points but Tuskegee close the game on a 13-5 run as the Lady Bears missed six straight shots before
Najla Shamsid-Deen scored with seconds remaining for the final score of the contest.
Shirrells and Miller each had 12 points to pace Tuskegee.
Ashley McCrear had 10 points and five rebounds while Hollis and
Victoria Sutton each had seven points for Miles. The two teams will meet again on Saturday in Tuskegee. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m..
