Miles' 2017 senior class has been a big part of the women's basketball program's resurgence. Led by Larian Scott and Javonne Brown, the group put on a show in an 82-64 win over Paine Saturday at Bill Harris Arena.

Scott had 20 points, three assists and three steals while Brown added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Golden Bears (12-12, 7-6), who clinched at least the West Division No. 3 seed for the SIAC Tournament with a chance to move to the No. 2 spot next week. Janisha Wilkerson had 24 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots to pace the Lady Lions (11-14, 5-9).

Paine led by two points in the third quarter but Miles closed the period on a 15-2 run to enter the fourth quarter with a 58-47 advantage. The Lady Lions would close to within six points midway through the fourth but the Lady Bears hit four 3-pointers over the final 10 minutes - three coming from senior Ashley Steger (nine points, three rebounds, three assists) - and three-point plays from senior Morgan Hardy (nine points, nine rebounds) and freshman Najla Shamsid-Deen (five points) to break the game open. A layup from senior Rickeytha Davis (four points, two rebounds, two steals) gave Miles an 82-60 lead late, the team's largest of the game.

Tierra Boykin had 15 points and five assists for Paine.Victoria Sutton had 10 points and Ashley McCrear had four points, seven rebounds and two steals for Miles, which plays Monday at Tuskegee. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
