Conley Langford enters his 18th season with the Golden Bears, this season coaching the defensive tackles. Langford had been an assistant coach for nine years with the Golden Bears before taking a leave of absence.
While serving as defensive line coach in addition to his coordinator duties in 2017, Langford helped produce two All-SIAC performers, including Freshman of the Year Marquel Shelton.

In 2016, Miles was 14th in the nation in total defense and one of just 15 schools that allowed less than 300 yards per contest. The Golden Bears led the nation in fewest passing touchdowns allowed (9), were second in defensive touchdowns (7), and third in passing yards allowed per game (157.8).
In 2015, Langford’s stingy defensive tactics were instrumental in guiding the Golden Bears to their second SIAC championship in five years. The Golden Bears were eighth in Division II in scoring defense and pass defense and 22nd in total yards allowed. Six times, Miles did not allow more than one touchdown in a game, including the 20-7 win over Albany State in the league title game, which memorably featured a goal line stand that stoned the Golden Rams on four chances from the 1-yard line.
During his tenure as defensive coordinator, Langford’s defenses have been ranked nationally with numerous players being named to SIAC All-Conference teams, playing in the Arena Football Leagues and other playing overseas. Last season, defensive end Braysean Jones earned All-American honors for his play during the season.
Langford spent eight years as a high school football coach in the Birmingham City School system and during his tenure, he coached two High School All-Americans.Â
Coach Langford graduated from Alabama A&M University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. He played linebacker for the Bulldogs from 1987-1991, and helped the Bulldogs win four SIAC Championships.
Langford is married (Kimyum) and they have one daughter, Yasminye Genae’.
