Miles hit over .300 as a team and shut down the Stillman attack during a dominant straight-set win over the Tigers (25-14, 25-15, 25-11) Thursday night.
Karea Copeland (18 kills, .406) and
Aida Edwards (nine kills, .538, three blocks) were nearly unstoppable up front with
Cydney Moore (19 assists) and
Alyzia Cola (16 assists) consistently setting up the bug hitters. Two consecutive Cola to Copeland combos closed out the opening set and six straight points finished Set no. 2, highlighted by two
Addisyn Doss aces and another finish by Copeland.
Stillman (1-4) started the final set a bit more competitively but with the score knotted at 8, the Lady Bears (2-0) ran off seven straight points to take control. Combo blocks by
Destinee Evans and Edwards highlighted the run, which were bookended by kills from Evans and Edwards. Miles would complete the match y scoring the final eight points. Evans and Edwards started the sprint to the finish with their third combo block and kills from Copeland, Edwards, Dosss and
Jaharia Hunter were part of the match-ending sequence.
Miles is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to take on Auburn Montgomery. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
