Garcia, Gray earn All-SIAC nods


Miles had two student-athletes selected to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason softball team, announced by the conference office Monday morning. Shortstop Gabriela Garcia and pitcher Delaney Gray were named to the team in a vote by the league's head softball coaches.

Garcia, a graduate student from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, was selected Second Team All-SIAC. Entering play on Monday, she leads the nation in doubles (21) and is hitting .440 overall with six home runs and 35 runs batted in through 125 at-bats, all of which lead the Lady Bears. She is in the top-10 in the SIAC in doubles, batting average (seventh), slugging percentage (sixth), on base plus slugging percentage (eighth), hits (55, sixth) and RBI (ninth). In conference play, she is hitting .441 with a 1.145 OPS with 10 doubles, a home run and 16 RBI. She has made just seven errors all season in more than 120 chances and turned four double plays.

Gray, a junior from Longview, Texas, was chosen to the second team as a pitcher and utility player. Overall, she is 9-5 with two saves and a 2.78 ERA with 104 strikeouts in 93 ⅓ innings. As a third baseman and designated player, she hit .410 with a .954 OPS with four doubles and 13 RBI. Gray was fifth in ERA, third in batting average against, and fourth in strikeouts despite being eighth in innings pitched. She had at least seven strikeouts in nine of her 11 conference starts, including three consecutive games of at least 10 in just five innings pitched. She threw a no-hitter against LeMoyne-Owen, had three 1-hitters and two 2-hitters.

Gray and Garcia will lead the Lady Bears into the 2026 SIAC Softball Championships presented by Toyota in Columbus, Ga. beginning Monday morning against Edward Waters.
