For the second straight week, Miles student-athletes have won both Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Kyle Cline was named Pitcher of the Week while
Myles Wessels earned Player of the Week honors.
Cline, from Gadsden, Ala., was named Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. He allowed just four hits and struck out seven in six innings of a 9-0 win over Xavier on Friday at the Ron Washington Classic in New Orleans. The junior has yet to allow a run this season in 11 innings pitched and has not allowed a batter to make it to third base this season through two starts.
Wessels, a sophomore outfielder from Florissant, Mo., slashed .364/.588/.455 in four games where the Golden Bears went 3-1. He went 4-for-11 with a double, six walks, five RBI, 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts and scored six times. His best performance came on Saturday in a 9-4 win over Southern University of New Orleans, where he went 2-of-4 with a double, a walk, four RBI and three stolen bases.
Both players are will join their teammates in action on Tuesday when they host Morris College at historic Rickwood Field. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
