ATLANTA - Miles got a double-double from
Makayla Rieves and a near triple-double by
Feliah Greer to post a dominant 64-43 win over Savannah State Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament presented by Cricket.Â
The win was the seventh straight for the Lady Bears (20-6) and gives them a third consecutive 20-win season for the first time in school history. The victory also pushes them into a semifinals matchup at Forbes Arena against LeMoyne-Owen on Friday at 10 a.m.Â
Miles took control of the contest early, holding SSU scoreless for the last 5:18 of the first quarter and opening a 12-5 advantage at the end of the opening period. The lead hit double digits late in the first half on a layup by Greer, who then assisted Rieves as the horn sounded for a 26-13 advantage at the half.
Madison Lee started the third quarter with a three-point play and followed with a 3-pointer to extend the lead to 32-15 at the 7:40 mark of the third quarter. With the game well in hand in the second half, the final exclamation point came down the stretch in the fourth as the Lady Bears scored 12 straight points. Rieves started the run with a bucket,
Eunique McKinney (six points, five rebounds) drained four free throws and Lee (10 points) ended the run un with a bucket for a 23-point advantage - the largest of the game.Â
Myasia Jones had 12 points to lead Savannah State.
Iemyiah Harris had a team-high 11 points, Rieves had 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Greer added eight points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for the Lady Bears.Â
