Lady Bears advance to third straight SIAC title game

ATLANTA -- For the third consecutive season, the Miles women's basketball team will play for the championship in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Lady Bears held off a game challenge from LeMoyne-Owen - the Cinderella of the 2025 SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament presented by Cricket - before taking home a 62-57 win Friday morning at Forbes Arena. The win was the eighth straight for Miles (21-6) and moves it into the championship game against rival Tuskegee on Saturday at noon. The contest will be a rematch of the 2023 SIAC title tilt, which was won by the Golden Tigers.

A 3-pointer early in the second quarter by Laila Minter had given the Lady Bears a double digit lead and when Tederia Ashley scored a second straight hoop with 7:21 left before halftime, Miles had a 25-14 lead and it did not look as if LOC had any magic left. The Lady Bears would never lose the lead but twice in the third quarter, the Lady Magicians had cut the deficit to a single point.

But LeMoyne-Owen had very few answers for Ashley and Feliah Greer, who combined for 39 points. Greer was aggressive in scoring at the hoop while Ashley knocked down several midrange jumpers that the Lady Magicians struggled to cover. Miles would extend the lead to nine points on multiple occasions before holding off a last-ditch effort from LOC down the stretch.

Kennedy Fuller had 20 points and Antieya Brown added 18 to lead LeMoyne-Owen. Ashley (19 points, 13 rebounds) had her fourth double-double of the season, Greer had a team-high 20 points, and Madison Lee added eight points and five rebounds for the Lady Bears.
