Miles forward Tederia Ashley was named Player of the Week by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for her performance over the past week. She is the first Lady Bear to win a weekly conference award this season.

Ashley, a senior from Huntsville, Ala., averaged 12 points, nine rebounds, 1.5 assists, and one block per game as the Lady Bears grabbed two road victories last week. In a win at Spring Hill, she notched her third double-double of the season (10 points, 10 rebounds). Her late basket with 14 seconds remaining sealed a 49-46 victory. She followed that performance with 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in a 78-59 win at Benedict. In the two games, Ashley shot 65 percent from the field (11-of-17).

Ashley and the Lady Bears are back in action on Saturday when they travel to face Lane. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
