MONTGOMERY, Ala. --Â Miles opened the spring portion of its 2024-25 season with a solid third-place finish at the ASU Spring Classic, held at the Arrowhead Country Club. The Golden Bears finished in a tie with Texas Southern but could not corral Kentucky State, which finished eight strokes ahead of Arkansas-Pine Bluff 16 strokes clear of Miles and Texas Southerm in an event shortened to two rounds.
Samuel Stagno followed an opening-round 79 with a 3-over 75 in the second round to finish tied for 12th at 10-over 154.
Zostrianos Giordani-Gross also finished among the top-20. He struggled in the opening round, shooting 8-over 80 but rebounded in Round 2 with his own 3-over 75 to finish tied for 14th, one shot behind Stagno at 11-over 155. Other finishers for the Golden Bears included
Jerris Baker (81-76-157, t-21st),
Derrius Gillis (87-74-161, t-31st), and
Malachi Greene (82-83-165, t-38th).
The Golden Bears are back in action at the ARCIS HBCU Championship next week in Weston, Fla. Play starts on Feb. 23.
