Najashi Tolefree had a double-double to lead three double-digit scorers and
Cameron Jernigan continued to block shots at a prodigious rate as No. 20 Miles (7-0, 5-0 SIAC West) remained undefeated with a 71-51 win over Allen Saturday afternoon at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
Allen (1-7, 0-6 SIAC East) had an early lead before Miles scored 10 consecutive points to go ahead for good.
Elijah Terry (five points) started the run with a 3-pointer,
Jaden Emory added another 3-ball and Tolefree (21 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals, block) ended the run with a bucket - all of them with assists from
David Williams - to give the Golden Bears a 19-10 lead at the midpoint of the first half. Another Emory 3-ball two minutes later gave the Golden Bears a 12-point advantage, their biggest of the opening half, and his bucket right before the half helped Miles to a 33-22 advantage at the break.
The 3-point barrage continued in the second half as Miles' first three field goals were from downtown. Emory, Williams and
Tyon Thompson (nine points, two rebounds, two assists) connected on the triples to push the Golden Bears lead to 44-27 less than three minutes into the second half. The lead got as high as 22 points as Miles shot 54 percent from the field, 44 percent on 3-pointers, and 89 percent from the charity stripe in the second half.
Jordahn Johnson had 18 points, nine rebounds and five steals as the only double-digit scorer for Allen.
Cameron Jernigan (eight points, 14 rebounds, four blocks), Williams (11 points, four assists) and Emory (11 points, three assists) all have big efforts for Miles, which plays at Edward Waters on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m.
