For the first time this season, the Miles football team is ranked among the best programs in all of NCAA Division II.
D2Football.com released its weekly Division II Top 25 media poll following the action in Week 10, as determined by votes from members of the D2Football.com staff as well as select members of the media. The Golden Bears were placed in the No. 25 spot as one of five new teams to enter the poll. Miles is currently the only HBCUÂ in the poll.
Miles is 8-2 this season and went undefeated (8-0) in league play for the first time since joining Division II. The Golden Bears current eight-game win streak has tied the longest single-season win streak in the program's modern era (since 1950), set in 1954, and tied the overall win streak set over the 1957 and 1958 seasons. Miles enters the game on the heels of a 37-7 win over Tuskegee on last Saturday.Â
The Golden Bears play host to Clark Atlanta on Saturday in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Game at Albert J. Sloan-Alumni Stadium on the campus of Miles College. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CST and will be broadcast on ESPNU. This will be the second meeting this season between the two schools, with Miles securing a 49-28 win over the Panthers on Oct. 19 in Atlanta.
