Miles used to big scoring runs in the second half to erase a big deficit and propel it to a 70-57 win over Fort Valley State Saturday afternoon at Knox-Windham Gymnasium. Four players scored in double figures and the Golden Bears (9-3, 4-2 SIAC West) got hot from 3-point range in winning their sixth straight over the Wildcats (3-10, 3-4 SIAC East).
The two teams alternated the lead through most of the first half before FVSU shot 64 percent from the field during the final five-and-a-half minutes to take a 36-28 lead at the break.

Elijah Horton and
Mykayle Carter each drained 3-pointers within the first four minutes of the second half, the last one capping a 10-0 run and giving the Golden Bears a 41-40 lead with 16:22 left.Â
The Wildcats regained the lead but the Golden Bears, again, took care of business from beyond the 3-point line.
Truitt Spencer (11 points, four rebounds, two assists) started a 9-0 run and Carter finished it with 3-balls to put Miles ahead for good, 53-45, with 11:30 remaining. Miles (19 points, six assists - both game-highs) and Carter (13 points) connected from deep on back-to-back possessions inside the six-minute mark to give the Golden Bears their biggest lead at 66-53. The defense allowed just one bucket over the final four minutes and FVSU never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.
After missing 9-of-10 3-pointers in the first half, Miles went 8-of-17 (47 percent) from downtown over the final 20 minutes to take control of the contest. The Golden Bears also controlled the glass, outrebounding FVSU 36-25 while using 13 offensive rebounds to outscore the Wildcats 12-0 in second chance opportunities.
Kenton Eskridge (15 points), Khadim Samb (14), and Davorian Rudolph (13 points) all scored in double-figures for Fort Valley State. Horton (10 points, four rebounds, two steals) and
Corey Trotter (seven points, career-high 16 rebounds, four assists, three steals, two blocks) also played big roles for Miles, whi has an exhibition contest at Talladega on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Golden Bears are back home on Saturday, when they host Lane. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
