WILBERFORCE, Ohio -- Miles fell into a big hole in the opening quarter and was unable to recover, dropping an 88-75 decision to Central State Saturday afternoon at Beacom/Lewis Gym. It was a stunning departure from the norm for one of the best defensive teams in the country as the Lady Marauders were te first team to score this many points against the Lady Bears since Dec. 18, 2016 - a span of 145 games - when Saint Leo scored 96 points.
The Lady Bears (16-6, 9-6 SIAC West) found themselves facing a double-digit deficit less than five minutes into the ballgame. CSU opened up a lead as large as 18 points in the second quarter and Miles went into the half trailing 46-34. As the game rolled into the third, Miles was unable to help itself, shooting just 20 percent from the field (3-of-15) as the Lady Marauders still held a 17-point advantage going into the final stanza. The Lady Bears closed to within 10 points with three-and-a-half minutes remaining but never got any closer.
Laurene Tere scored 24 points and Kailyn Nash added 17 to lead the Lady Marauders.
Deresia Randle (21 points, 14 rebounds, four steals) and
Jakera Ellerbee (10 points, 11 rebounds, three steals) each recorded double-doubles and
