WILBERFORCE, Ohio -- Miles won its 16th consecutive ball game, beating Central State 61-37 Saturday afternoon at Beacom/Lewis Gym.Â
The game was tied at 26 at halftime but Miles put on a defensive showcase to start the second half. The Marauders missed their first 14 shots from the field and turned the ball over seven times as the Golden Bears pitched a shutout for nearly 12 minutes after halftime. By the time Marcus Steele scored with 8:14 left in the game, Miles had opened a 49-28 lead. During the 23-0 run,
Anthony Fairley scored seven points of his game-high 15 points (he also added nine rebounds)Â for the Golden Bears.
Jovon Jones had nine points and Brad Lewis had 15 rebounds to pace Central State.
Yasim Hooker (13 points, 11 rebounds) had a double-double and Spencer Truitt added 10 points for Miles, which closes out its regular season Tuesday night when it hosts LeMoyne-Owen. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.Â
