The start times for Miles' men's and women's basketball games against LeMoyne-Owen on Saturday have been changed due to potential inclement weather. The Lady Bears will tip-off at 10 a.m. while the Golden Bears will start at noon. Both games will take place at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
The Lady Bears enter the game at 8-3 overall, 4-1 and in first place in the SIAC Western Division. They have won three straight, including a 63-55 win over Albany State this past Monday. Miles has the top defensive team in the SIACÂ and has posted some of the best defensive numbers in the nation, leading Division II in rebounds per game (50.1), sixth in field goal defense (32.6 percent), seventh in scoring defense (51.5 points allowed), and 20th in steals per game (12.0). The team leads the SIAC in each of those categories. The Lady Magicians (7-5, 4-2 SIAC West) have been playing well of late, winners in six of their last seven and four straight league contests.
The men's game will feature a rematch of last year's SIAC Championship Game, which Miles won handily en route to a NCAA Division II Tournament appearance. The Golden Bears (8-3, 3-2 SIAC West) are coming off a tough loss this past Monday to Albany State. Despite a solid overall performance this season that sees Miles leading the SIAC in scoring defense (60.1), scoring margin (+9.1 points), 3-point field goal percentage (.392), and rebound margin (+7.2), the Golden Bears are looking up to first-place Tuskegee and second-place LeMoyne-Owen (8-4, 5-2) in the Western Division standings. Miles will also look to break a four-game home losing streak to the Magicians, who have not lost in Fairfield since February 2014.
