LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- Miles dropped both games of a doubleheader against West Alabama on Tuesday. The Lady Bears (7-34) lost the opener 4-2 before succumbing 11-0 in five innings in the nightcap.
In the first game, Miles took an early 1-0.
Davis Watkins led off with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and stole third. She would score when
Chynna Gross scored on a fielding error for a 1-0 advantage. UWA would score two unearned runs in the second and ultimately took a 4-1 lead after five innings. The Lady Bears would get a run back in the sixth on a RBI single by
Yasmin Cottingham that scored
Alexus Gonzalez but were unable to muster any more offense to complete the comeback.
Stephanie Roper had two of Miles' five hits.
In Game 2, West Alabama scored three runs in the second and seven runs in the fifth to put the game well out of reach. Watkins had the only hit for Miles, a single to lead off the game, while
Nala Moore,
Lydia Rodriguez and Cottingham each reached via walk.
Miles is in action again on Wednesday when it plays a doubleheader at Mississippi College. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
