Miles opened the home portion of its schedule Wednesday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep by Auburn Montgomery. The Warhawks took the first game 18-0 in five innings and the second game 9-1,
In the opener, Miles got just two hits, singles from
Stephanie Roper and
Kristie Looney. While AUM got 11 hits, the majority of its damage was inflicted by the Lady Bears, who issued 16 walks from three different pitchers. In the nightcap, Miles was undone by four unearned runs in the first inning. The Lady Bears were in a 6-0 hole when they came to bat in the third but
Kristie Looney got a one-out bunt single, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a RBI groundout from
Davis Watkins. That would be the only hit and run scored for Miles.
The Lady Bears are back in action next week as they open conference play during the SIAC Crossover inJasper.
