Game Recap: Softball |

Softball swept by Mississippi College

Miles was swept in a doubleheader by Mississippi College on Tuesday afternoon. The Choctaws (22-6) earned 9-0 and 13-1 wins over the Lady Bears (2-23), with both games completed in five innings.

The offense could get nothing going in the opener for Miles, which was no-hit by Mississippi College starter Hannah Creel (9-1). The only Lady Bear to reach base was catcher Stephanie Roper, who got on from a throwing error. But she was thrown out trying to steal and Miles only sent the minimum 15 batters to the plate.

In the nightcap, the Choctaws scored in the first inning but Miles tied it in the bottom of the frame. Davis Watkins reached on an error, then stole second and third. Nala Moore then bunted a ball towards third. Watkins was caught in a rundown but was able to score on catcher's interference. Moore would get to third base with no one out but the Lady Bears were unable to capitalize, making three straight outs to end the inning.

Kendal Daniels, who came into the day with one hit on the season, hit the first of her two home runs to put the Choctaws ahead for good in the second. Mississippi College would hit four homes runs against Zamiyah Williams (0-6) while Miles was only able to get a hit from Kiana Terry, who had a bunt single in the seventh.

Miles is back in action Friday as it opens a three-game series at LeMoyne-Owen. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
