MOBILE, Ala. -- Miles held Spring Hill to just one field goal over final 7:30 to earn a come-from-behind 57-51 win Thursday night.
Sakina Wynn scored 12 points and
Jasmine Hollis added 11 to aid the Lady Bears (13-8, 7-7 SIAC).
The game was close throughout as the Badgers (13-10, 6-8) led by just one point at the half and 42-38 at the end of three quarters. But Miles hung tough, quickly taking the lead in the fourth on a 3-pointer by Wynn. Spring Hill still led with less than five minutes to go but two free throws by
Najla Shamsid-Deen with 4:47 remaining started a 6-0 run by the Lady Bears, which gave them the lead for good.
Spring Hill shot just 32 percent from the field in the second half. After Katie Krout scored with 7:34 left, the Badgers did not make another bucket until Mathilde Nicolas scored with 14 seconds remaining. In between, SHC missed six shots from the field and turned the ball over six times, allowing Miles to take control.
Tiffany Valentine had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Badgers.
Raiana Johnson had eight points and eight rebounds, and
Victoria Sutton added eight points and three rebounds for Miles, which hosts Tuskegee on Senior Day Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
