ROME, Ga. -- Miles saw its three-game win streak come to an end in a 10-2 loss at Shorter Tuesday afternoon.

Jacob Bisharat hit his first collegiate home run in the fifth inning and Alex Benltey got on base three times, but the Golden Bears (4-2) were only able to muster six hits against the Hawks (2-2). Starting pitcher Christopher Elias (1-1) fell behind early, giving up a two-run home run to Samyr Santos in the bottom of the first before allowing two more in the second to put the Golden Bears in a 4-0 hole.

The Golden Bears would get on the board against Shorter starter Grant Jacobs in the third. Justin Bisharat, who had reached on a single, stole third base and would score when the throw went into left field. But Elias gave up two more in the bottom of the inning to extend the Hawks advantage to 6-1. Elias gave up six earned runs and seven hits while striking out three in five innings.

Jacob Bisharat would launch a two-out homer to left in the sixth but that would be all for the Miles offense. Ryan Bargery had the only other extra-base hit (a double in the fourth) and four runners were thrown out on the bases.

Miles returns home for a three-game series this weekend against Lynn. Game one will take place at Corner High in Warrior on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
