Miles is at home for the first time in December when the men and women's basketball teams host Albany State on Saturday at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
Tip times are 1 p.m. for the women's contest and 3 p.m. for the men. Tickets for the game are just $5 with an additional financial donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (tickets are $10 without the donation). The Make-A-Wish fundraiser will also take place for games on Dec. 17 against Fort Valley State and Dec. 19 when the men's team hosts Delta State.
The games feature four teams who have yet to lose in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this season. The Lady Bears are 5-1 overall, 1-0 in league play, and are coming off a 61-50 win over Mississippi College on Dec. 8. They currently lead the SIAC in scoring defense, steals, and turnover margin while featuring two of the top players in the conference in senior forward
Taylor Terry, who is among the league leaders in scoring, rebounds, and field goal percentage) and
Sakina Wynn, who is second in the league in steals (behind teammate
Najla Shamsid-Deen) while ranking in the top-10 in scoring and assists. The Lady Rams are 3-7 overall but 2-0 in and atop the East Division. They are one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the conference and feature the SIAC's No. 5 scorer and leader in field goal percentage, Alexandria James.
The Golden Bears are 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the SIAC West, giving up the fewest points per game in the entire conference while posting the third-largest point margin.
Jelani Watson-Gayle is the team's top scorer (10.6 points per game),
Devonte Fuller leads in rebounds (5.7) and
Jose Roman-Angueria is in the SIAC's top-5 in field goal percentage (.594). Albany State is 3-6 overall but sits on top of the Western Division standings (2-0). The Golden Rams like to shoot the 3-ball, ranking second in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage and third in 3-pointers made. They have three of the top 25 scorers and two of the top three rebounders in the conference. Tyrell Williams has been exceptionally solid, ranking third in field goal percentage, second in rebounds and first in blocked shots.
