LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- After playing Division I Little Rock tough for the first 20 minutes, Miles struggled during the second half of a 67-47 loss Tuesday night at the Jack Stephens Center. The contest did not count in the standings for the Golden Bears, who used this game as one of three exempt contests against non-Division II opponents.
Jeffrey Dockett scored all 10 of his points in the first half and he was the only Golden Bears player to score in double figures. He and
Jelani Watson-Gayle (eight points) provided the offensive spark for Miles in the first half as the team held a four-point lead early but trailed 33-27 at the half.
But the Trojans (5-6) took control of the contest at the outset of the second half, using a 15-2 run to open the period and get plenty of separation. The only bucket during that run for the Golden Bears came from
Braeden Stewart and was just one of seven Miles made during the final 20 minutes. Little Rock led by as many as 27 points in the second half en route to its third 20-point victory of the season.
Rayjon Tucker had 18 points and 12 rebounds - both game highs - to pace the Trojans.Â
Jose Roman-Angueria had nine points, four rebounds and three blocks for Miles, which returns home for a conference battle with Albany State on Saturday. Tip time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
