The deficit was still 13 points late in the second quarter but Miles scored eight straight points to pull within five before a DSU bucket at the horn made the score 36-29 at the half.

Delta State ran the lead back into double figures in the second half and led by 11 with five minutes remaining before the Lady Bears made a final push. Baskets by Shamsid-Deen and Sutton - the last coming with 36 seconds remaining - pulled Miles to within 65-62. But a a Kirsten Brown basket with 11 seconds left sealed the deal for the Lady Statesmen. Oakwood (0-8) turned the ball over 50 times - which turned into 42 points for Miles - and scored just 19 points over the final three quarters.
