WILBERFORCE, Ohio -- The Miles women's volleyball team entered Friday's Western Division Cluster knowing it had some work to do in order to get back into the race for a spot in next month's SIAC Championships.

After dropping the first set, the Lady Bears roared back to finish off the Marauders (3-10, 3-4) and pick up their first win since opening the SIAC Crossover with a win over Paine. Thomas, a freshman, was superb, finishing with a double-double (21 assists, 10 digs) while also scoring well (4-2-7, .286). She spent a lot of time setting up Johnson, who had a season-high in kills (12-6-30, .200) while adding six assists, four digs, two service aces and a solo block. Robinson had eight kills, Shatesa Harris added seven kils and two blocks (one solo) and

Lane 3, Miles 0 (29-27, 28-26, 25-11)
The final match of the day was a sweep but much closer than the final results showed as Miles went toe-to-toe with Lane (4-10, 4-5) in two tiebreakers before running out of steam in the third. In the opening set, the Lady Bears served for the set up 24-22 before falling and in the second set, served at 24-21 and 26-25 but could not finish off the Dragons. Johnson (eight kills) and Reed (six kills) led the attack. Thomas (24 assists, six digs, four blocks) and Harris (three kills, five blocks - one solo) came up big at the net.
Miles is back in action on Saturday as they battle Spring Hill and Kentucky State in the final day of the Western Cluster.
