HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Miles fell behind early in the opener and jumped on top before losing in extra innings of the nightcap in a doubleheader loss to Alabama Huntsville Tuesday afternoon at Charger Park. The Chargers (18-20) won he first game 8-3 and the second game 9-5 in eight innings. Kolby Brannon had five hits - including two home runs - in the doubleheader for Miles (17-17) but gave up the game-winning grand slam to take the loss in the second game.

GAME 1: UAH 8, Miles 3

Wes Anderson's three-run home run off Jake Inglis (0-1) highlighted a five-run second inning that gave the Chargers all the offense they would need. Brannon would hit a solo home run with one out in the fourth to get Miles on the board. Trent Ridlehover would ad a RBI single in the sixth and Reeves Brashear would drive in Alex Foster with a double in the seventh but it was not enough. Harper Case (3-0) tossed a complete game for UAH, allowing eight hits and striking out four in the win.

GAME 2: UAH 9, Miles 5 (eight innings)

Miles lead 4-0 but needed to score late to force extra innings before UAH won it on a walk off grand slam by Ben Rhodes.

Foster and Cameron Honeycutt both had run-scoring singles in the second inning to give Miles and early lead. Brannon would hit a two-tun homer to left - his third of the season, one in each of the last three games - to put the Chargers in a four-run hole. But UAH would score twice in the third off starter Brashear and add three more against Brannon in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead.

Miles would tie the score in the seventh without a hit. Trevor Bates was hit by a pitch and then stole second. Two outs later, he was on third and would score on a wild pitch. The Golden Bears would get two more hits that inning but did not take the lead.

In the eighth, Miles had a chance to go back on top in the eighth. Gary Mason, Jr. led off with a triple but Brannon grounded out to short against a drawn-in infield. Justin Bisharat struck out swinging on a dropped third strike and on the throw down to first, Mason attempted to score but he was thrown out at the plate and the inning was over. UAH would load the bases with one out in the bottom of the frame before Rhodes hit a 1-1 pitch out to right field for the winning margin.
