FRANKFORT, Ky. -- 
Najla Shamsid-Deen and 
Javonne Brown each scored a team-high 13 points but a 19-point hole after the end of the first quarter severely diminished any chance for victory as Kentucky State earned an 82-60 win Monday night at the Exum Center.
KSU (7-8, 4-4 SIAC)scored the first eight points of the game and after the Lady Bears (6-9, 1-3) cut the deficit to 10-6, the Thorobrettes scored the next nine points to grab a 13-point advantage with 3:49 left in the opening quarter. 
Rickeytha Davis (seven points) would score 20 seconds later but Miles would not score for the rest of the frame and trailed 27-8 .
Kentucky State would open a 23-point lead but Miles was able to cu it to 11 late in the second quarter on a Brown bucket. But the Lady Bears trailed 42-29 at the half. The third quarter was not much better than the first as KSU outscored Miles 26-9 to put the game out of reach.
Brooke Wallace had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Kentucky State. 
Ashley McCrear had nine points and 
Victoria Sutton had six points, five rebounds and three steals for Miles, which plays at LeMoyne-Owen Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
