The pitching was clicking and the bats were alive Saturday afternoon as Miles swept a doubleheader from Tuskegee, 3-2 and 13-0, at historic Rickwood Field.
Austin Pate and
Dylan Johnson each hurled complete games and
Jimmy Brown, Jr. had the big bat with five hits and four runs batted in.
GAME 1: Miles 3, Tuskegee 2 (8 innings)
Austin Pate went the distance, striking out eight and allowing just five hits as the Golden Bears needed extra innings to dispatch the Golden Tigers.
Tuskegee replaced starter Trey Nelson with Jordyn Thomas to start the eight and Miles took immediate advantage.
Justin Langdale dropped a single into short right field to start the rally and moved to second when pinch hitter
Jacob Schuster was hit by a pitch.
Aaron Williams, attempting to sacrifice the runners over, pushed a perfect bunt down the third base line for an infield single, setting the stage for
Jimmy Brown, Jr.'s, whose bloop single over a drawn in infield scored Langdale with the game-winner.
Tuskegee designated hitter Jalen Luter hit the fourth pitch of the game over the wall in right center to give the Golden Tigers a quick 1-0 lead. But Langdale answered with his own solo shot in the bottom of the frame to tie it.
Miles would take the lead when Williams scored an unearned run after a throwing error by Golden Tigers third baseman Gemini Jackson went into the stands in the bottom of the fourth. But Tuskegee had its own response in the top of the fifth when Ricky Green hit a two-strike, two-out home run to right center that tied the game at 2.
James Gardner, along with Langdale, Williams and Brown each had two hits for the Golden Bears. Nelson pitched seven innings, allowing just five hits and one earned run for Tuskegee.

GAME 2: Miles 13, Tuskegee 0
Dylan Johnson was nearly flawless, scattering four hits and striking out nine in the complete-game victory while Brown's bat was, again, integral in the big Golden Bears win.
Miles put this game away early scoring six times in the first off starter Eugene Mabota.
Damion Williams and
Darione Adkison each drove in two runs during the frame as the Golden Bears sent 10 batters to the plate.
Tuskegee went to the bullpen in the fourth and the Golden Bears went right to work. Brown greeted Green with a 2-run single in a 3-run inning. Thanks to heads-up base running by
James Gardner, Langdale got a RBI on a sacrifice fly on a pop up just beyond the infield at second base to make the score 11-0.
Xavius Burden just missed a 2-run home run in the sixth inning off Tuskegee reliever Daniel Croom, settling for a RBI double. He scored on a Gardner sacrifice fly to cap the scoring.
Brown went 3-for-3 with three RBI and four runs scored in the nightcap. Gardner also went 3-for-3, driving in two runs, while Adkison (two hits, two RBI) and
Damion Williams (3 RBI) were also solid at the dish.
