Baseball earns another split with Morehouse

Box Score 2 ATLANTA -- For the second time this season and the third time over he last two years, Miles split a doubleheader with Morehouse. The Golden Bears (6-5) took the opener, 10-3, before falling 7-4 in the nightcap.
Miles 10, Morehouse 3Austin Pate (2-1) scattered four hits and allowed just one earned run in a complete-game victory. But it took the Golden Bears a minute to get it together offensively, scoring nine runs over the final three innings to secure the win.Trailing 2-1 going into the fifth, Miles took the lead for good when
Keland Smith followed a run-scoring single from
Aaron Williams with a two-run double to take a 4-3 lead. After
James Gardner drove in a run in the sixth, Miles broke the contest open with a five-run seventh, collecting four of those runs without recording a hit.
Xavius Burden had a RBI single but
Jacob Schuster and
Jimmy Brown Jr. were each hit by a pitch and Gardner was walked, all with the bases loaded, to drive in runs.
Ryan Bargery hit into a double play to bring in the final run before Pate shut it down in the bottom of the frame.
Morehouse 7, Miles 4Miles held a two run lead going into the bottom of the third inning before defensive lapses led to a six-run frame that was the difference in the game.
Jacob Branham drove in a rn with a single in the second and
Justin Langdale added a RBI double in the third to give the Golden Bears a 3-1 lead. But with two outs in the bottom of the inning, an error at shortstop opened the floodgates as the Maroon Tigers scored six times, the last two coming on a Elijah Sudduth single - his second hit of the inning - for a 7-3 lead. Langdale drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh but it was not enough.
ON DECKMiles is scheduled to host the University of Montevallo on Tuesday with first pitch set for noon.
