Larian Scott score 12 points and
Ashley Steger added 11 as Miles went to 3-0 on the young season with a 55-46 win over Elizabeth City State Saturday in the ECSU Classic.Â
The Lady Bears never trailed. A 3-pointer by Steger with 6:12 left in the first quarter gave Miles a 9-6 lead and sparked a 7-0 run that put the Vikings (0-4) in a tough spot. ECSU went nine minutes between the first and second quarters without a field goal as the Vikings shot just 21 percent over the first 20 minutes and trailed 28-19 at the break.Â
It it did not get much better for ECSU in the second half as Miles continued to stifle the Vikings offense. Scott would take over on the offensive end, scoring 10 of her points over the last 20 minutes to stay in command.Â
Javonne Brown had five points, nine rebounds, and three assists for Miles, which is back in action next week against Benedict in the Fort Valley State tournament on Nov. 25. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
