Miles' men's and women's basketball teams look to jumpstart their seasons when they open the home portion of their Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule Thursday night with a doubleheader against Clark Atlanta. The women tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and the men play at approximately 7:30 p.m. Both games are at Knox-Windham Gymnasium on the Miles College campus.

The Lady Golden Bears are 1-6 overall, 0-2 in SIAC play. They are coming off a 79-71 loss to Paine on Monday night and have dropped six straight games. While the team has struggled to get into the win column, it has gotten some solid individual performances. Porshia Blue is third in the SIAC in scoring at 17.3 points per game and sixth in rebounding at 8.4 per game, one of just three league players in the top-10 in both categories. Wendy Miller is also among the top-10 in field goal percentage and blocked shots per game. Clark Atlanta is coming off an 84-76 win over Stillman and has split its eight games this season, including a 1-1 mark in conference play.

The men's team is still looking to turn the corner this season under first-year coach Leon Douglas. The Golden Bears are 1-8 overall and dropped both of its conference games, including an 82-55 loss to Paine on Monday night. Newcomer Maiscei Grier has been the igniter for Miles, averaging 18.9 points per game, which is third in the SIAC. Senior Albert Peterson is averaging more than 10 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, the latter number placing him fourth in the conference. The Panthers are just 2-7 overall, but 1-1 in SIAC play after a 79-70 win over Stillman.

Thursday games are the first of a homestand that will see Morehouse come to Fairfield on Saturday in men's basketball action and a doubleheader against Benedict on Monday. To keep up with all the action, follow Golden Bears athletics @GoldenBearsofMC on Twitter.
