Miles entered Monday night's game against Benedict looking to build off the momentum the team gathered with its first conference win last week. But the Lady Golden Bears ran into a brick wall - primarily Benedict's 6-foot-4 center Britenique Harrison - that caused major problems in a 60-50 defeat at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.

The Tigers anchored Harrison near the basket on both ends of the floor and she delivered with 15 points, 12 rebounds, two blocked shots and several more misdirected attempts. Eight of her rebounds were on the offensive end as the Tigers (9-4, 4-1 SIAC) had 23 offensive rebounds and a 57-39 overall advantage on the boards. While Porshia Blue scored a game-high 23 points to lead Miles (2-7, 1-3), the team shot less than 30 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 20 times, which led to 25 Benedict points.

Miles trailed just 30-26 at halftime, but the Tigers scored the first two baskets of the second half and the Lady Golden Bears never got closer got closer than the four-point halftime deficit the rest of the way. When Blue scored less than four minutes into the second half, the score was 34-30. But she, nor any other Lady Golden Bear, would make another shot from the field for more than five-and-a-half minutes. By then, Benedict had pushed the advantage into double figures. In fact, Miles went 10 minutes before someone other than Blue, Meghan Bass, scored from the field.

Shawntal Byrd had nine points and five rebounds and Joidon Jennings had a team-high eight rebounds for Miles, which hits the road to play Fort Valley State on Thursday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
