LIVINGSTON, Ala. - When a team loses by more points than it scored, it is safe to say it was a tough night at the gym.

Miles found itself on the wrong end of a 109-54 final against West Alabama, sending the Golden Bears to a third consecutive defeat. Albert Peterson had 14 points and six rebounds and Hasain Bunnell added 11 points and five rebounds off the bench. But it was the defense that struggled all night, allowing the Tigers to shoot nearly 63 percent from the field and score an astounding 56 points in the paint.

After trading baskets early, UWA went on a definitive 17-2 run, punctuated with a Lleon Tillman dunk to give the Tigers a 21-6 advantage barely eight minutes into the game. The Golden Bears did not play bad in the first half, but could not string together enough baskets to keep pace with UWA's offensive onslaught.

Miles trailed 55-33 at halftime but it immediately got worse. The Tigers scored the first 11 points of the second half in approximately 100 seconds and any thoughts of making UWA work for the victory were quickly vanquished. The Golden Bears shot less than 25 percent in the second half as the Tigers walked away with the easy win.

The Golden Bears will attempt to get back into the win column on Saturday, Dec. 6 when they travel to Montevallo to take on the Falcons. The two teams met in a game that was pushed into overtime before the Falcons earned the victory. Miles will look to avenge that defeat beginning at 3 p.m.
