ROBERT MOSLEY HAS JOINED THE GEORGIA LADY BULLDOGS' STAFF
ATHENS, GA - Robert Mosley has joined the Georgia Lady Bulldogs' staff as an assistant coach, head coach Andy Landers announced on Thursday. Mosley comes to Athens after serving as an assistant coach at Alabama for the past two campaigns.
Mosley joined the Alabama staff in 2010 and made an immediate impact on the Crimson Tide's fortunes. Alabama advanced to the "Sweet 16" round of the WNIT, the programs first postseason appearance since 2002. Individually, Tierney Jenkins was named first-team All-SEC after leading the league and finishing fourth nationally with 20 double-doubles. In addition, Kaneisha Horn was named to the Freshman All-SEC squad.
"Coach Mosley has earned the respect of everyone throughout the basketball ranks," Landers said. "His work at every level has been superbly done and produced successful results. He relates extremely well to both coaches and players and will be a valuable asset to our staff. His coaching experience, teaching capabilities and knowledge of basketball will help us continue our quest to be the best we can be."
"I'm excited about the opportunity to come to Georgia and the opportunity to work with an outstanding staff," Mosley said. "Coach Landers is a hall of famer, Joni Crenshaw is one of the brightest up-and-coming coaches in women's basketball and Angie Johnson is a very seasoned and highly-respected coach and recruiter. I think we can do great things."
From 2004-10, Mosley served as head coach at Ramsay High School in Birmingham, Ala., and led the Rams to four 5A state titles in seven seasons. Mosley was named Coach of the Year by the National Federation of High School Coaches Association in 2006. He also has served as a guest speaker and facilitator at numerous basketball camps and clinics throughout the country.
A native of Mobile, Ala., Mosley received his associate's degree in science from Bishop State Community College in 1995 and a bachelor's degree in social science education from Miles College in 1999. Mosley also is a member of the Miles College Sports Hall of Fame.
Georgia's Lady Bulldogs have long been one of the nation's premier programs. UGA ranks No. 2 nationally in both weeks ranked by the Associated Press and NCAA Tournament bids. The Lady Bulldogs also are among the nation's top-5 in NCAA "Sweet 16s" and Final Fours. All told, 35 Georgia players have gone on to play professionally, including 21 in the WNBA. Thirteen Lady Bulldogs have been selected in the last 12 WNBA Drafts, including eight first-round picks.
Georgia finished the 2011-12 season with a 22-9 record and ranked No. 20 in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today coaches' polls. The Lady Bulldogs were ranked No. 9 in the earliest espn.com preseason poll for the 2012-13 campaign. Georgia will return four starters who all averaged in double figures and will welcome a five-player recruiting class that includes four four-star prospects.
