GOLDEN BEARS TAKE TWO GAMES FROM TUSKEGEE

Box Score 2 FAIRFIELD, AL – The Golden Bears (18-15; 11-6 SIAC) of Miles College continue their hot play Saturday, April 14 with a pair of wins, 10-9 and 12-4, over the Golden Tigers (11-23; 9-8 SIAC) of Tuskegee University at Rickwood Field in Birmingham. The Golden Bears moved into sole possession of second place in the Western Division of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings.
The Golden Bears used the arms of
Austin Williams and
Justin Bartley and timely hitting to put away the Golden Tigers 10-9 in game one of the series. Williams (5-4) pitched 3.2 innings, allowing five earned runs on ten hits, with two strikeouts, while Bartley earned the win for Miles with 3.1 innings thrown and four runs (three earned) scored on three hits.
William McCrary (2-2) picked up the loss for the Golden Tigers, while throwing 0.2 inning and allowing two runs off two hits.
Anthony Jones led the Golden Bears with a 3-for-3 day at the plate, three RBI's and one run scored, while
Braden Glass went 3-for-3, two RBI's and scored twice.
Jeffery Jones was 2-for-3 with one RBI and crossed the plate two times and
Justin Langdale had two hits out of four plate appearance.
Tuskegee took a 9-8 lead into the fifth with four runs scored, as the score would stay this way until the seventh. In the seventh,
Jeffery Jones for Miles reached base on a walk, then stole second and
Braden Glass walked. Each would advance a base, before
Anthony Jones would single both runs across for the win.
In game two,
Cody Currul (4-4) went 5.0 innings for the win with two earned runs scored on two hits, six strikeouts and four walks, before giving way to
Randall Cole for the remaining 2.0 innings.
John Bryant (3-5) threw 4.0 innings for the loss for Tuskegee with six runs allowed on four hits.
Justin Bartley drove in five RBI's on a 2-for-3 day and
Jordan Bisharat going 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Justin Langdale had two hits and scored twice, while several others had one hit each.
Golden Bears Senior Day is tomorrow, as they play their final home game against the Tigers of Tuskegee University at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, AL., with game scheduled for 1 p.m.
