MILES LADY BEARS DROP NON-CONFERENCE GAME TO ALABAMA A&M
Box Score FAIRFIELD, AL – The Miles College Lady Bears (17-25) softball team dropped a big in state non-conference game to the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University (8-18) this afternoon by a score of 4-2 in Huntsville, AL.
Brittney Mitchell and
Kayla Blanchard led the Lady Bears at the plate by going 2-for-3 with one RBI scored by each player.
Kayla Bowmaster (7-6) picked up the loss for the Lady Bears by going 6.0 innings and giving up four runs on six hits. Cassan Brown (1-0) was the winner for Alabama A&M, as she went 6.0 innings with two runs allowed and eight hits given up. Anisa Britt went 1.0 inning for the save.
Tiffany Roberts scored first for the Lady Bears as she singled in the first inning, stole third, and then scored off
Brittney Mitchell ground out to third (1-0).
Alabama A&M's Nicole Norton singled and later scored on a Cassan Brown double to left field in the second inning to tie the game (1-1).
In the third, Alabama A&M took a one run (2-1) lead with Mel McCollum walk and Shen Johnson double to right field to score McCollum.
Both team scored their final runs in the fourth with the Lady Bears
Heather Mitchell single, then advancing to second and scoring off
Kayla Blanchard's single to tie the game (2-2).
The Lady Bulldogs put the game away with two runs, as Nikki Rembert reached first base on a hit pitch. Rembert scored from first off Samanth Cain triple to right field and Cain later scored off Brown's ground out to third.
The Lady Bears will travel to Jackson, TN to take on the Lady Dragons of Lane College this weekend in the final four SIAC Western Division conference games before going to the SIAC Softball Championship on Wednesday, April 18. The Tournament will be in Atlanta, GA., starting on Thursday, April 19 through Saturday, April 21 at Gerald Matthews (Lovejoy) Sports Complex, 1935 McDonough Road in Hampton, GA.
