GOLDEN BEARS DROP 4-5 DECISION TO WEST GEORGIA
Box Score FAIRFIELD, AL – The Miles College Golden Bears (16-15; 9-6) dropped a one run game to the University of West Georgia (19-16) this afternoon by a score of 4-5 in Carrollton, GA
Justin Langdale and
Anthony Jones led the Golden Bears with a 2-for-4 day at the plate and scoring one run and one RBI apiece.
Justin Bartley drove in another two runs.
Adam Whitlock had two RBI's for West Georgia while going 1-for-5.
Jeffery Jones started the game for Miles, while throwing 5.0 innings with two earned runs given up on five hits, two strike outs and four walks.
Justin Langdale (0-1) picked up the loss with 3.1 inning pitched, three runs (two earned) allowed on four hits, one strike out and two walks.
Max Aeschlimann (5-4) won the game for West Georgia with 1.2 innings on the hill.
The Golden Bears took the lead in the first inning with one run scored and another in the second (2-0).
West Georgia tied the game with one run each scored in the fourth and fifth innings (2-2).
West Georgia scored two runs in the seventh to take a 4-2 lead, but Miles would fight back to tie the game at 4-4 with two runs in the eight.
West Georgia won the game with a run scored in the bottom half of the ninth inning.
Saturday is Senior Day for the Golden Bears, as they host the Tigers of Tuskegee University in a three game SIAC Western Division series at Rickwood Field in Birmingham. Game one on Saturday is scheduled for 12 noon and Sunday 1 p.m.
