GOLDEN BEARS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH BENEDICT

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FAIRFIELD, AL -  The Miles College Golden Bears (11-10; 5-3) split a doubleheader with Benedict College (16-3; 7-1) this afternoon as they dropped game one 4-5, then won game two 14-1 at Rickwood Field in Birmingham.

Jeffery Jones went 2-for-2 with two RBI's and Justin Langdale, Jordan Bishara and Courtney Kelley each scored a run.

Cody Currul (3-3) went 7 innings for the loss as he allowed five runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out eight and walking six batters. Christopher Lail (2-0) picked up the win for Benedict by going 5.2 innings and giving up four runs (one earned) off four hits.

Game two, the Golden Bears came out hitting the ball as they pounded 11 hits and scored 14 runs. 

Julius Fain led the team with a 3-for-4 plate day, three RBI's, as well as scored three times. Jeremy Lee was 3-for-4 with three RBI's and scored once. Kelend Smith was 2-for-4 and Justin Langdale 2-for-5. Smith drove in three runs, scored twice and banged a home run over the left field wall. Kevin Harris scored three times and Jeffery Jones crossed the plate twice.

Austin Williams (4-4) threw a two hitter for the win while allowing one earned run. Luis Cotto (2-1) got the loss in just 0.1 innings on the mound and six earned runs given up.

Miles scored six runs in the first, five in the third and three in the fourth. Benedict got their single run in the fourth.

The same two teams will be back in action in a single game on tomorrow at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, with the game time set for 1 p.m.
