WEST GEORGIA DEFEAT GOLDEN BEARS 16-5
Box Score FAIRFIELD, AL – Miles Golden Bears (10-9; 4-2) were defeated by the University of West Alabama Wolves (15-9) by a score of 5-16 today at Rickwood Field in Birmingham.
Randall Cole (0-1) went 6.1 innings for the loss with nine runs scored (three earned) off 13 hits and
Don Mack finished the game with seven runs given up in 2.2 innings. Dustin Brantley (1-0) picked up the victory for West Alabama by going 6.0 innings and allowing one earned run. Austin Shaw gave up three runs and Randall Wright one run in 2.2 innings.
Anthony Jones led the Golden Bears with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, while scoring one run and one RBI.
Kevin Harris was 2-for-3 with one RBI and
Justin Langdale's 2-for-4 day.
Brett Wright was 4-for-5 for West Georgia with five RBI's and two runs scored.
Miles scored one run in the 4th, three in the 7th and one in the 8th, while West Georgia got four in the first, six in the 7th and five runs in the 9th.
The Golden Bears will host the Tigers of Benedict College at Rickwood Field this weekend in a three game conference series with game one starting at 12 noon.
