GOLDEN BEARS WIN DOUBLEHEADER OVER MOREHOUSE

Box Score 2 ATLANTA, GA – The Miles College Golden Bears (2-0) baseball team won its season-opener with doubleheader wins over the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College (0-4) by the score of 14-4 and 5-4 in Atlanta.
In game one, sophomore
Kevin Harris led the Golden Bears with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, scoring two runs, five RBI's and a solo homerun. Freshman
Kelend Smith had three RBI's and went 2-for-4 and senior
Jeffery Jones was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a double. Senior
Julius Fain went 2-for-4 at the plate, scored two runs and a solo homerun.
Freshman pitcher
Cody Currul (1-0) won the game while giving up four earned runs and striking-out six batters in four inns. Senior pitcher
Randall Cole (1) threw three inns to pick-up the save with no-runs given up.
Brandon Lowe (0-1) picked up the loss for Morehouse, as he gave up 13 earned runs on 11 hits and 10 base-on-balls.

Justin Bartley went 2-for-3 with one run scored apace. Junior

Austin Williams (1-0) threw five hard inns for the victory, while giving up five hits, three earned runs and four strike-outs. Freshman
Justin Langdale (1) picked up his first college save with two inns on the mound and three strike-outs in the seventh.
Matthew Flowers (0-1) went the distance for Morehouse, while giving up seven hits, one earned run and striking out nine Golden Bears.
The Golden Bears will open at home on February 11 (Rickwood Field) in Birmingham, as the Bulldogs of Tougaloo College come a calling for two games. Game one is scheduled for 12 noon.
