REGINALD RUFFIN NAMED MILES COLLEGE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH
Fairfield, AL- Miles College has named
Reginald Ruffin as the new head football coach. He brings more than 10 years of coaching experience to Miles.
Coach Ruffin comes to Miles after serving five years as Assistant Coach at Tuskegee University, where he served as the defensive coordinator and linebacker coach. While at Tuskegee, Ruffin also spent the 2002-2003 season under Coach Rick Comegy. Ruffin has served as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Choctaw County High School in Butler, Alabama; Assistant Football Coach and Defensive Lineman Coach at the University of West Georgia in Carrolton, Georgia. Ruffin was also an Assistant Football Coach at Jackson High School in Jackson, Alabama and Assistant Football Coach and Defensive Lineman Coach at the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama.
During Coach Ruffin's tenure as defensive coordinator with Tuskegee University, he had the SIAC's top defensive scoring defense, pass defense and rushing defense in 2007. His team's defense finished second in scoring and was among the leaders in most defensive categories in 2008. In 2009, his team posted the league's top defense.
Coach Ruffin is a 1994 graduate of the University of North Alabama and holds a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
During his playing years at the University of North Alabama, Coach Ruffin won All-American honors three times and was the school's only player to win All-American honors in two positions – defensive end and linebacker. His collegiate football achievements include All-Gulf South Conference (GSC) honors for three consecutive years (1993-1996); Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year in 1994, and was named to the University of North Alabama's 50th Anniversary Team and Gulf South Conference Team of the 90's.
Coach Ruffin is married to Monica and they are the parents of one child, Gabriel.
