HEAD COACH REGINALD RUFFIN NAMED 2011 SIAC FOOTBALL COACH OF THE YEAR

ATLANTA, GA – Miles College Head Coach Reginald Ruffin has been named the 2011 SIAC Football Coach of the Year, as voted on by the SIAC Football Coaches' Association. Ruffin in his first season, led the Golden Bears to the first-ever SIAC Western Division title, finishing with a 6-4 overall record and 5-2 record in the SIAC. Coach Ruffin looks to lead his Golden Bears team to victory Saturday in the SIAC Championship title game in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced as well the 2011 SIAC Football All-Conference and All-Academic Teams as voted on by the SIAC Football Coaches' Association.

Junior running back Jordan Lewis, from Birmingham, AL., is a 1st Team SIAC All-Conference Player, as he led the Golden Bears in rushing and finished the regular season second in the SIAC in rushing with 813-yards, averaging 3.3-yards per rush and 81.3-yards per game. Lewis scored seven touchdowns and grabbed 198-yards in passing.

Junior center Lester Jackson, from Tuscaloosa, AL., and freshman defensive back Tyrell Kinder from Jackson, AL., was named to the 2nd SIAC All-Conference Team. Kinder finished the season with 24 tackles and 18th in the SIAC in passes defended and 3rd in interceptions with five and one returned for a touchdown.

Senior defensive back Michael Johnson, a native of Miami, FL., and majoring in Accounting, led the team and named second on the 2011 SIAC Football All-Academic Team with a 3.92 grade point average, followed by sophomore's tight end Ronnie Garcia from Dothan, AL., with a 3.81 grade point average in Political Science and defensive back Quentin Jones from Cairo, GA., with a 3.73 grade point average in Accounting.
