Golden Bears Picked to Finish 5th at the SIAC Football Kickoff Luncheon

Birmingham, AL – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the Predicted Order of Finish and SIAC Preseason All Conference Team (selected by coaches) at their 2006 Football Kickoff Luncheon on Wednesday, July 26 at the Marriott Northwest Hotel in Atlanta, Ga. The coaches predicted the Golden Bears would finish fifth in the conference this season. Picked to finish first is Albany State University, second Tuskegee University, third Fort Valley State University, fourth Kentucky State University, sixth Benedict College, seventh Stillman College, eight Clark Atlanta University, ninth Morehouse College and tenth Lane College.
The Golden Bears had three players named to this season SIAC Preseason All Conference Team. Senior Jasman Necense (6-0, 230, Palm Beach, FL), was named to the 1
st team as a linebacker. He played in 10 games and led the team with 80 tackles, seven tackles-for-losses, three sacks, one interception and forced a fumble. Named to the 2
nd team were senior offensive lineman Kareem Gulley (6-5, 295, Mobile, Al) and junior defensive lineman Jermaine Henderson (6-2, 220, Tallahassee, Fl). Henderson led the team in sacks with five and a half, 30 tackles, seven tackle-for-losses, one pass breakup and hurried the quarterback twice.
The 2006 Golden Bears players will report to camp on Sunday, July 30.
