Courtney English, a 5-10 senior power forward for the Lady Bears basketball team has been named the MilesGoldenBears.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 23, 2012. It’s the first honor of the season for English and the first for the Miles women’s basketball team.
The Atmore, AL (LBW Community College) native led the Lady Bears (4-4) to an 86-94 loss that went three overtimes to the University of West Florida on Monday, December 17. English scored her six double-double with 22 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assist, 2 blocks and 2 steals in the game.
English has led the Lady Bears to 1st place in the SIAC West Division. She is 2nd in scoring (15.4) in the SIAC, 1st in rebounds (11.7), 10th in field goal pct. (.433), 14th in assist (2.3), 1st in offensive rebounds (5.7), 3rd in defensive rebounds (6.0) and 1st in minutes played (36.0).
English is ranked 7th in the NCAA with an 11.7 rebound average per game.
