ATLANTA -- Miles quarterback Anthony Mix came off the bench after another lengthy weather delay to lead the Golden Bears to a 27-14 comeback-from-behind victory over Clark Atlanta Saturday night. 

The senior signal-caller, in his first significant action during his time with Miles, was inserted into the game after a weather delay of more than two hours. It was the third straight week that Miles (1-3, 1-1 SIAC) has had a game stopped due to lightning and thunderstorms this season. But when the Golden Bears emerged from the precipitation hibernation, a new animal emerged to lead the team to victory. 

When Mix came in to relieve starter Brinley Vandiver with 11:40 left in the second quarter, Miles trailed 14-0 and the weather had mostly emptied the stands.  But his entrance jump started the offense and quickly put CAU (1-3, 1-2) on notice. 

Roderick Thomas (12 carries, 49 yards) got the scoring started with a 3-yard scoring run - his third straight game with a rushing touchdown - to cut the deficit in half. On the ensuing drive, Mix connected with Jaiden Jones (three catches 41 yards) on a 10-yard scoring pass to tie the game with 4:56 to go before the half. Rourke Davis closed out the half with a 34-yard field goal as time expired to give Miles a 17-14 lead at what was an abbreviated halftime period.

Davis helped extend the lead with a 44-yard field goal late in the third quarter to extend the Golden Bears lead to 20-14 and gave Miles its first lead this season heading into the fourth quarter. The defense forced a couple of turnovers in the fourth quarter, first on an interception by Donsha Gaither (four tackles) four minutes into the final period. Mix then put his final stamp on the game with an electric 67-yard touchdown run with 2:42 left to give Miles a bit more cushion. Jacobi Whitfield then closed the door with an interception two plays later which allowed the Golden Bears to run out the clock.

Mix ran 11 times for 162 yards and a touchdown while passing for another 84 yards and a score. Gary Byers had five tackles (two for loss) and a pass break up and Kingston Lowe had two tackles (both for loss) and a sack for Miles, which is back in action next week on the road at Savannah State.
